About SESEC

The Seconded European Standardization Expert for China (SESEC) project was launched in May 2006. Its general objective has been to raise awareness on the European Standardization System, values and assets in China. The project is supported and operated by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), as well as by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry (EC DG ENTR) and by the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

Project Achievements

Since its launch in May 2006, the SESEC project has achieved enhanced visibility of European standardization, increased cooperation between European and Chinese standardization bodies, and continued support to European industry facing standardization related issues hampering market access to China.. Confidence building via daily contacts, fostering alignment of position at international level, and promoting mutual understanding of Europe’s and China’s standardization and conformity assessment systems have led to an broadened access to markets and a facilitated Regulatory Dialogue between the Commission Services and China.
